A visit of the steel giant!

Hala Koszyki once again turns into an art gallery. This time, we host the sculpture "Orange" by Krakow artist Paweł Orłowski, being a part of the "BOTY" series. It has provided to us by Sarapata Art Gallery as part of the project of Hala Koszyki/ENERIS entitled "Occasional Gallery."

It is the first time when "Orange" – a monumental steel sculpture by Paweł Orłowski is presented in the public space. For the three years since its creation, it has been exhibited in art galleries only. Since the end of August, anyone walking along the Hala Koszyki hall can admire this more than two-metre high orange "bot."

— The intention of Paweł Orłowski was to refer to robots which, as it is assumed, perform activities so that they replace people. Therefore, we can say that the Bots created by the artist depict a digital version of a man who is scary on the one hand, and on the other hand shows the power of the human mind — explains Camille Jedrzejewska from Sarapata Art Gallery.

Meeting the BOT is possible thanks to the "Occasional Gallery" project initiated by ENERIS, the task of which is to promote high art in public space. Artists and galleries from all over the country are invited to participate in the project. That is why the choice of "Orange" as the work opening the project was not accidental. Its monumentality and ambiguity result in the fact that no one can pass it indifferently.
