Feed Them All x Koszyki
All people need food to live. Sometimes a person cannot eat any or enough food because of an sickness. FeedThemAll – Żywienie bez granic is a nationwide social campaign invented to raise awareness about living on home parenteral nutrition. The aim of the campaign is to increase quality of life of patients treated with this therapy.
It is possible to live without eating? Can you imagine not being able to feel the taste of your favourite dish? Can you imagine that eating would enable you from going outside?
Parenteral nutrition (PN) – what it is?
It is a way of supplying all the nutritional needs of the body by bypassing the digestive system and providing a special liquid food mixture directly into the bloodstream, through an needle in central vein (intravenous catherer). It is a life-sustaining therapy that saves people from malnutrition and starvation. Parenteral nutrition can be managed at home if the patient does not require hospitalization and has a special central catherer.
How does home PN work in practice?
Infusion lasts approximately 14 to 20 hours a day. In Poland, most of HPN patients spend all this time with their drip-bag hanging on a drip stand. They are disabled from social and outdoor activities, such as going to school or work. Providing them with mobile infusion pumps would be a perfect way to maximize their ability to remain independent and mobile. Pumps are light and small. A patient can put it in a backpack along with a drip bag and feel free to be active, work and travel. Unfortunately, costs of infusion pumps and infusion kits are not covered by polish health system. That is why we want to collect funds for Linia Życia Founation to buy mobile pumps for HPN patients. The fund-raiser is going to be held during our Finale.
